The Kindness Project
The school was successful in its application to the City of Port Phillip Resilience Innovation Fund and as a result, we have a school-wide initiative titled: The Kindness Project. The program has been created for APPS with the collaboration of teachers, parents and two consultants- Liv Downing and Kate Oliver.
Kate Oliver is a mindfulness teacher, singer and songwriter that has developed a kindness program for kids called Passing Clouds through beautifully written songs. Liv Downing has been assisting the school with our mindfulness program and is liaising with Kate and the school on this exciting new program.
The program teaches and encourages kindness through songs about empathy, friendship, mindfulness and showing kindness to oneself and others. Kindness is not a new concept that we teach our students but the program is a way to remind us all about how to treat each other with the respect and kindness we all deserve.
