Matilda JR.

On 5 September, the Year 6 students brought the much-loved story of Matilda to life with an incredible performance of Matilda Jr in the school hall. Just as Roald Dahl’s original story captivated readers, our students took us on an unforgettable journey filled with creativity, humour, and passion.

From their first auditions in Term 2 through to months of dedicated rehearsals, these young performers gave their all, shining brightly on stage with energy and enthusiasm in every scene. Their hard work was evident in every note sung, line delivered, and character brought to life, leaving the audience in awe.

A special mention goes to the Year 6 teachers—Garrison, Sarah, and Sam—whose unwavering support and guidance were instrumental in bringing this production to fruition. From sourcing costumes to organising extra rehearsals, they went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly.

We also want to give a huge thank you to the Year 5 students who worked tirelessly behind the scenes as part of the stage crew. They were an essential part of the production, managing scene changes by moving set with the utmost professionalism. The show simply couldn’t have happened without their efforts.

A heartfelt thanks goes to Katrina, Candice, and all the teachers who volunteered on the night. Their dedication and belief in this vision helped foster an extraordinary production. It was truly wonderful to see the whole school community come together in support of the show.

Finally special thanks to the specialist teachers—MJ, Nick, Dora, and Office Staff for all the hours they poured into the show and of course, the parents and wider community. Your encouragement, assistance, and attendance at the performances made the experience even more special for the students.

It has been a true privilege to work with such a talented group of students on this labour of love, and we can’t wait to see where their musical journeys take them next.

Thank you for supporting Matilda Jr!
