Students are into the full swing of things in Visual Arts classes. Here's a few things that students are working on right now: Prep students have been able to do all the fun stuff so far! Cutting and pasting, painting, glitter and sequins! They are currently learning about Primary and Secondary colours and will use this information to colour their feet.........artwork! Grade 1 & 2 students are currently exploring lines, and how far they can be taken! "Taking a line for a walk" has been an interesting way of learning about pattern, repetition and direction. Students were quite worried when they were asked to "walk the line" with their eyes closed, with some students too tempted to peek! There has also been an emphasis on patience - "Be persistent, and your work will eventually be finished with great results!" Grades 3 & 4 are studying aspects of nature, with an introduction focusing on camouflage and shades of colours. This led into a study of flora, which definitely tested students out with having to look VERY closely at details. A tree is more than a ball on a stick, or a fork in a cloud, using just brown and green. Have a look at the gum trees outside the grade 4 portables - they have great colour and shape markings. Grades 5 & 6 have definitely enjoyed the "Graffiti faces" activity, combining printing with paint, using chalk pastels to shade, and Posca paint markers (a favourite of all senior students!) to use a continuous line to draw a face. Students have now moved onto their "Ladybird project", starting with the messy task of paper mache. With 89 papered balloons hanging from the roof, the atmosphere is rather bizarre - a strange carnival feeling! Zart Art Student GalleryFifteen grade 5 & 6 students have had their work chosen to be exhibited in the student gallery at Zart Art throughout Term 2. Each term there is an assortment of different types of art work from various schools that are exhibited in Zart Art's student gallery. For the past 3 years Albert Park PS has had art works exhibited there, which is a fantastic opportunity to show case the great work that our students do! If you'd like to have a look at the student gallery, the address is: Zart Art, 7/41 Lexton Road, Box Hill North, Melbourne Vic 3129. Two highlights of their upcoming program are: The 'Children's Cheering Carpet - Saltbush' is a touch-sensitive mat for children's exploring feet and hands to trigger beautiful images and sounds. Come and play with the performers as they share with you stories of Australia's 'Saltbush'. The Waterhole exhibition. The Waterhole is written by renowned Australian writer and illustrator Graeme Base. It is a stunning example of his work that depicts different waterholes and animals around the world. As more creatures drink from the pool, the water gets sparser and the land dryer. This book holds a timely message about water's preciousness to all animals and the earth. Go to ArtPlay and be inspired by Graeme Base's original artworks. Find out how he created the book, find the frogs and have a go at drawing your own stunning illustrations. Visit the Art Play website to see a full list of activities available. |
