NATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM - LITERACY AND NUMERACY (NAPLAN)

Grade 3 students throughout Australia are involved in this program which tests knowledge and skills in Literacy and Numeracy.

Dates for NAPLAN 2009 are May 12 Literacy (Language Conventions, Writing), May 13 Literacy (Reading) and May 14 Numeracy.

EXCITING NEWS - INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARDS

Interactive Whiteboards have beeninstalled in the Grade 3 classrooms.  Everyone is very excited about the learning and teaching opportunities that will be provided and the ICT knowledge that will be gained through their application.

The STORYLANDS site lets chidren

• Read each book online - each book is read aloud
• answer a quiz about each book - to check reading comprehension
• play a new reward game after every book - to motivate children to read more
• join the STORYLANDS club, create an online character and track their progress.

STORYLANDS is designed for children from 5 - 8 years old. The 30 books in each land are numbered in sequential order - the higher the number, the more challenging the book is to read.
