Term Dates 2010
Term 1 1 February (Preps start Tues 2 Feb) to 26 March - teachers begin Term 1 on 27 January School RoutineAll children are expected to be at school when the school day begins at 9.00am. Children are encouraged to arrive at the school between 8.45am and 9.00am. Teachers supervise the playground from 8.45am - 9.00am, during all recesses and after school from 3.30pm - 3.45pm. AttendanceIf your child is absent, it is important to notify the school either via a phone call or written note. Phone messages and notes are kept as an official school record. Similarly, if you are late arriving at school or should it be necessary to collect your child before 3.30pm, you are required to fill out a 'late arrival slip' or an 'early departure slip' which must be lodged with the classroom teacher or at the office. Forms can be downloaded via this link: Absense Early Departure Late Arrival Notices Again, this is kept as an official record of time spent at school. Repeated lateness will be followed up via contact with the family. AssemblyAssembly is held every Monday at 9.00am, either outside (weather permitting) or in the school hall. Parents are welcome to attend. If the Monday is a public holiday, assembly will be held on the Tuesday. In the last week of term there is no assembly on the Monday. Assembly is held at 2.00pm on the last day of term instead. Sun Smart PolicyIn terms 1 & 4 there is a "No hat - No play" policy within the school. It is necessary for your chid to have a hat every day at school during the summer months and it is highly recommended during the cooler season. Clothing that protects the shoulders from the sun must be worn and appropriate footwear is essential. Teachers do not supply nor apply sunscreen to students. However, students who bring their own sunscreen are provided adequate time to apply it before moving outside. Extreme Weather DaysDuring recesses too wet/hot for play outdoors, teachers are rostered to supervise indoors. Should it start to rain while already at play, the school bell is sounded to call students back indoors and appropriate activities are organised within classrooms. Sustainable TransportThe school encourages children to come to school on foot, by bike, scooter or by tram. A bike enclosure is provided to store bikes and scooters during the day. Bike and scooter riding is not permitted in the school yard. Please ask your child to dismount and wheel their bike or scooter to the bike enclosure . Please remember that helmets must be worn when riding a bike or scooter. Importantly, do not leave bikes and scooters at the school overnight as they are not safe from theft from the general public. MedicationAny medication your child may require at school must be brought to the office by a parent or carer. You will be asked to complete a form to provide explicit directions and doses. Form can be downloaded via this link: medication authority form-frm-v1.0-may 2008 The only medication that a child may have on them is for asthma. In these cases, parents are recommmended to provide an asthma management plan.
