There are three prep classes at Albert Park -Amanda's (Prep A), Jane's (Prep J) and Gill's (Prep G).Term 4 2009Wow, we can't believe it's the last term of Prep! This term we are learning all about Fairytales and how to be Active Positive Productive Students (A.P.P.S.). We are doing swimming lessons until the end of October and then we will be busy working hard on our Literacy and Numeracy programs. We are looking forward to preparing concert items for the school Christmas concert later on in the term. Here are some photos of our preps! We can't wait to meet the new preps for 2010. Term 3 2009Prep students are learning to work with others by:
During term 3 the Preps will be focussing on our integrated unit "Keeping ourselves happy and healthy". they are learning that there are some behaviours that are safe and some that are unsafe, and that healthy eating creates healthy bodies. The children are also participating in the Footsteps dance program which is lots of fun, learning new dance steps each week. Check out our photos!Crazy Hair Day: Look at our craxy hair! The whole school dressed up and created whacky hairdos to raise money for people with Cystic Fibrosis. Italian Day: In June we had Italian Day. The children enjoyed all of the fun activities during the day, including the performance, craft and eating pizza, gelati and crostoli. Fire Safety: In June and July our local fire fighters visited Albert Park Primary School. They came when we were learning all about Firefighter Fred and the sound he makes in words! The Preps hearnt about and even got to try using the fire hose. Year 1 Puppet show visit: The Preps were lucky enough to get invited to Tessa's Year 1 class for a puppet show. The Year 1's had made up their own shows and puppets in small groups. We had a great time!
Term 2 2009 - Integrated Program: Farm AnimalsAs part of our Integrated Curriculum, this term the Prep students are learning about farm animals. As a hands-on experience, each Prep class will spend two weeks playing "Mother Hen" caring and nurturing ten eggs into chicks that will return back to their farm. This is a great opportunity for integrated learning activities in the science, art, literacy, mathematics and music areas of our curriculum. The Preps will also learn about how farm life differs from city life, and look into the different characteristics of farm animals. We will also be continuing to use the Friendly Schools and Families program and the Virtues program to assist the children with developing positive playground and classroom behaviours.
2009 Letterland ParadeOn 2nd May 2009, the Prep children kicked off the APPS Annual School Fete with our Letterland Parade. Everybody had a great time and looked fantastic in their outfits (thank you parents for your efforts!). It was great to see the Preppies demonstrating confidence by getting up on the stage. Here are some pictures of our Letterlanders!
Term 1 2009 - The Making of Our SandpitWe have been enjoying our new sandpit. All of the preps and their teachers and Julie got to make an imprint of their hands in the wet cement as the sandpit was being built. Have a look by clicking on the thumbnail photos below.
